The daughter of the late Charles Russell and Velta Marie Beard Morrison, Cheryl was born August 18, 1951, in Tulsa, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 16, 2023. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1969 and received her Bachelor of Arts and Education in 1973 from the University of Oklahoma. Cheryl and I first met in the fall of 1973. We were both newly minted educators teaching at Hefner Junior High. We were both teaching 8th graders -- Cheryl taught Latin and English and I taught English and American history. We were instant friends. And it didn't take long to discover we shared a common faith and love for Jesus. She and I laughed so much over those two years. In 1975 Cheryl and Dan were expecting their first child, Bill had graduated from law school and we were headed to a small town in NW Oklahoma not far from Piedmont where Dan had been called to his first church. Later we moved to Sapulpa (Cheryl 's hometown) so it seemed we were never too far from each other. In subsequent years Dan and Cheryl settled in Ardmore while Bill and I lived in Texas and then Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. But we still kept in contact. It seemed like the Holy Spirit would always nudge Cheryl to call me when we most needed emergency prayers. We talked for nearly an hour on the phone about a month ago. It was always as if no time had passed between us. She was a true friend and sister in the Lord. She loved Jesus, Dan and her family. She will be missed but so welcomed into the company of saints in heaven. Love and prayers, Daria Bossman

Ms. Patman was my Teacher @ Ardmore high School in 1987, She and Dan later became friends and ministered to my Parents (James and Annetta Burden). They both were a great comfort to us Girls at our parents passing. She will be greatly missed by many.

Cheryl, from thousands of miles away, impacted Madam Russell UMC in Saltville, Virginia during Don and Rachel’s ministry. She was a kind soul. She loved the Lord and loved my mom’s chocolate cake. Heaven gained a sweet angel. I’m so sorry Rachel. Prayers for peace during this difficult time for you and your family from the Griffins
