JIMMY DALE Obituary

JIMMY DALE Jimmy Dale was born in Coleman, Oklahoma, on January 22, 1927, one of 13 children born to Judge JW and Lassie Jones Dale. Jimmy lived 96 of his 98 earthly years in Davis and married Barbara Chaffin Nigh on October 20, 1964. Jimmy adopted Karen as a little girl (after her father died) and he and Barbara then had three sons Kevin, Kent and Alan. Jimmy and Barbara were married 56 blessed years before her passing in 2019. Jimmy was a successful businessman and civic leader. He was the manager of Dale Lumber Company and was the president of Dale Oil Company. He was one of the founding owners of First Community Bank of Lone Grove and served on the board of directors at First National Bank in Davis, Jimmy also had a construction company, remolding many houses in Murray County, which he sold or rented. He farmed, baled hay and ran cattle most of his life, and in his later years, he did contract appraisal work. He served on the first Davis planning commission, was on the Murray County Conservation District Board for over 40 years. Jimmy also felt a call to serve the young people of Murray County. He served as a Scout Leader, a 4-H leader, was the President of the Davis Little League Baseball Association, and a board member of the Murray County Jr. Livestock show, for many years. He had friends throughout the area and often gave or loaned people money to help them provide for their family. He was a father figure to many young men who worked for him at the lumber yard or hung out at the Dale family Home. Having lived through the depression and World War II he was one of the last of the greatest generation to have been raised in Davis. A graduate of the Davis High School, class of 1945, he worked for the civil service on the airbase in Fort Riley, Kansas, during WWII, attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University), completed several construction management programs through SMU, was a licensed plumber, a licensed appraiser, a licensed home inspector, and a graduate of the first Oklahoma Conservation Commission, Leadership Class. However, his true passion was being a man of God and disciple of Jesus. He would be the first to say, whatever worldly accomplishments he had were immaterial, compared to his relationship with the Lord. By his example, he reminded friends, family and neighbors that serving God was the most important thing in life. He served many years as a deacon, an elder, and a Bible class teacher at the East Main Church of Christ in Davis and at his death was an active member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ in Davis. He leaves a legacy to his family and community, as a man of strong work ethic, integrity, and faith. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents: his wife Barbara: his daughter, Karen Dale Limke; his brother, Wilburn, Albert, Fred, Raymond, & George Dale; sisters Hettie Floyd, Winnie Dale, Olyene Simmons, Ethel Allen, Edith Winters, Bonnie Morris; and son-in-law Kerry Whitefield. He is survived by his sons, Kevin and wife Dianna Dale of Durant, Kent and wife Nancy Dale of College Station, Alan Dale of Davis; son-in-law, Keith Limke of Yukon; one sister, Lauralee Byrd and husband Eugene of Angle Fire, New Mexico; Paul Chaffin and wife Kay of Sulphur, Caroyln Sue Brewster of Sulphur, and Lois Nigh of Houston, Texas. Jimmy is survived by eight grandchildren, April Whitefield Williams and husband Eric, Rayn Whitefield and wife Tiffan, Adam Whitefield and wife Jamie, Jenna Dale Fulcher and husband Brandon, Joshua Dale and wife Brooke, Mathhew Dale, Dasha Dale Broaddus and husband Blake, Kelby Dale Bradley and husband Logan; 16 great grandchildren; a special couple Robert and Carla Hartsfield; and a host of nieces; nephews, cousins and friends. The family will host a celebration of life on Friday evening Aug. 29 at 7:00 at the Central Church Fellowship of Believers located between Davis and Sulphur (45 Shepherd Hills Road). A graveside service will be held on Saturday morning, Aug. 30 at 10:00 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jacob Barton, Logan Bradley, Joshua Dale, Matthew Dale, Robert Hartsfield, Adam Whitefield, Ryan Whitefield and Eric Williams. Honorary Bearers are Blake Broaddus, Bill Chaffin, Paul Chaffin, Steve Dale, Brandon Fulcher, Danny Gayle, Louie Harmon, Bruce Hottle, Robert Hottle, Ivan Koeger and Rusty Sims.
