ROY GARNAND Obituary

ROY CARROLL GARNAND Funeral services for Roy Carroll Garnand, 86, of Healdton, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Bro. Ollie Pierson officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery in Stephens County. Roy was born January 21, 1937, at Ardmore, to the late Mr. Victor Garnand and Mrs. Jessie Garnand. He departed this life October 27, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore. Roy was raised in Ardmore where he also attended school for many years. He married the love of his life, the former Ms. Winona "Susie" Roberts, on August 20, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Healdton. Also, that year, Roy began his military career by joining the United States Air Force. In 1965, he became a Marksmanship Instructor, and in 1976, Roy was assigned to the United States Air Force Marksmanship Instructor Technical School as Course Chief which he ran until he retired in 1980. He spent 26 years serving before retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sargeant and then began working in Civil Service where he retired as a GS-13 after 14 years. Roy was a loving, kindhearted, man who was definitely one of a kind and would do anything for anyone, he was loved by all who knew him. Roy was a Master Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He and Susie have had 69 wonderful years together, building a beautiful family of five generations. Roy was so proud of every one of them. Preceding him in death are his parents, Victor and Jessie; sister, Irma Shmelz and her husband, George; brother, Lynn Garnand, brother-in-law, Eddie Roberts; son-in-law, Mark Bass. Survivors include his wife, Winona "Susie" (Roberts) Garnand of the home; children, Roy Charles Garnand and wife Stacy of San Antonio, TX, Peggy Sue Bass of Healdton, James Victor Garnand and wife Lynette of Castroville, TX, and Robert Don Garnand of San Antonio, TX.; sister, Catherine Brunen of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Mark Dale and wife Casie, Jessica, Maggie, Jarrad, Jordan, Justin, Joey and wife Amber, and Ashley and husband Chris; great grandchildren, Trey and significant other, Shelby, Nathaniel and wife Siera, Toby, Hunter, Tristan, Seth, Jemma, Sloane, Zoey, Ryver, Willow, Sarah, and Alicia; great great grandchildren, Gerald, Maverick, Walker, Adilynn; Roy's lifelong best friend, Don White and his family; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Mark Bass, Jr., Mark Bass III, Nathaniel Book, Tristan Eno, Jarrad Garnand, Jordan Garnand, Justin Blackmon. Honorary bearers are Hunter Bass, Toby Bass, and Joey Richardson. Family visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.alexandergrayfh.com.

Roy "Boss Man" Garnand, he touched the lives of so many people that even he couldn“t fathom the extent of his dedication to excellence, and his tremendous influence over the SAMTU/CATM generations.
