JAMES PATRICK KOSSICK
James Patrick Kossick, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 83.
Born on St. Patrick's Day in 1942, in Bay City, Michigan, James was a man whose life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and an infectious spirit of community involvement.
Jim's journey through life was one of love, commitment, and service. On October 25, 1997, he married the love of his life, Marge (Jezewski) Kossick, and together they built a family that included his children, Amy (Don) Wenglikowski, Sherrie Gray, Steve (Liz) Kossick, and Marge's children Jeff Lijewski, Bryan (Alan Prather) Lijewski, Amy (Jim) Barrett, and Jason Lijewski. His role as a grandfather to Brooke (Calvin), Haley (Aaron), Courtney (Eric), Ethan (Ava), Olivia (Ashton), Justin (Kayla), Evan, Megan (Gage), Beau, Jaxx, and Kaiden, and great-grandfather to Jax, Rohen, Gavin, Holden, Bentley, Jonas, and Jesse was one he cherished deeply. He took great delight in their accomplishments and adventures, imparting wisdom and laughter in equal measure.
Jim was blessed with a supportive and loving family of siblings, including Don (Karen) Kossick, Joni (Fred) Wille, Mary Ann Foco, and Jeanette (Ed) Burbank. Also, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kathryn (Lanczak) Kossick, his sister Joyce, and his brother-in-law Sam. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs.
A patriot at heart, Jim honorably served in the US Army Reserve, a commitment that reflected his love for his country. His professional life as a Salesman for Lawn Equipment spanned many years, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and thoughtful approach to customer service. James's colleagues and customers alike respected him for his honesty and integrity.
Jim's faith was central to his life. As a devout Christian, he lived his beliefs through his actions, demonstrating kindness and compassion to all who knew him. His involvement in various organizations, such as the Thumb Octagon Barn, vintage motorcycle club, American Legion Post 239, Bay City Moose 169, Moose Florida 2276, Knights of Columbus Pinconning, and the Eagles club in Florida, showcased his desire to connect with others and give back to the community.
Described by those who knew him as handy, friendly, and thoughtful, Jim was the quintessential neighbor and friend. He could often be found lending a hand, sharing a joke, or offering a word of encouragement. His presence was a source of stability and joy in the lives of many.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Parish with Rev. Fr. James Bessert presiding. Visitation will be on Friday at Rivertown Funeral Chapel from 4 pm to 8 pm with a vigil service at 7 pm. On Saturday from 10 am till the time of mass. In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be for American Legion 239 or St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
