Edward A. Gerry

- - Edward A Gerry, age 76, died at Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls on February 7, 2018.

He was born on April 15, 1941 at Sioux Falls to Ralph and Cecelia (Johanson) Gerry. He married Caroline Schulte at Marshall, MN on July 10, 1965. He is survived by his wife Caroline of Madison. Three sons - Darrin (Cherie) of Sioux Falls, Corey (Shannon) of Madison, and Travis (Summer) of Harrisburg. Seven grandchildren - Dominick, Aspen Joey, Taylor, John, Ashlynn, Delaney. Three brothers - Dale (Gayle) of Yuma, AZ, Clair (Jane) of Sioux Falls and Rodney (Paddy Ginther) of Portsmouth, R.I. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 12. 2018 at St Thomas Aquinas Church in Madison with Rev DeWayne Kayser as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

He grew up in Sioux Falls where he graduated from Washington High School in 1959. He served in the US Army before attending and working at Dakota State University where he worked until 1981. He then worked at M & M Glass and Window and Rosebud Manufacturing until he retired in 2010.

He was a former member of Madison Jay Cees, served as den master for the Boy Scouts and as treasurer for the Madison Bowling Association.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM on Sunday with a parish scripture service and Rosary at 5:00 PM at Weiland Funeral Chapel which is in charge of the arrangements.
