Elaine Whealy Obituary
Elaine Whealy, 93, of Colton, died Monday, August 15, 2016 at Primrose Retirement Center.
Funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, August 19, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Colton. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery, rural Colton.
Elaine Helen Dybvig was born August 14, 1923 to Helmer and Ruby (Andrews) Dybvig in Colton, South Dakota. After graduating from Colton High School, she attended St. Olaf College and earned a degree in teaching. For a number of years, she taught high school in Minnesota and South Dakota. In 1949, she married Donald Whealy. They made their home in Colton and were very active in the First Lutheran Church. Donald died August 26, 2010.
Grateful for sharing her life are her five children, James and Michael (Brenda), both of Omaha; Sela Nagelhout (David) of Harrisburg; Mary (Neal Blanchard) of Wilmington, DE, and Elizabeth of Sioux Falls; her seven grandchildren, Andrew (Darby) and Michael Whealy; Will, Elizabeth and Marah Nagelhout; Madeline Blanchard, and Simon Whealy; and her two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Peter Whealy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents and two brothers, Donald and Darol, and seven aunts and uncles.

Aunt Elaine was a very special person. Family was so very important to her. Such a great sense of humor!! And, she could be counted on for very thoughtful and valued input when asked. Her little chuckle and smile are great memories for me. Our condolences to her children & grandchildren.
