Elton Budahl Obituary
Sioux Falls - Elton Jerome Budahl passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at Good Samaritan in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Elton was 94.
Elton was born on February 7, 1926 to Leonard and Ella (Hawley) Budahl. Elton was born and raised on a farm near Astoria SD, graduating from Astoria High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 in WWII on the USS Bairoko. He later achieved his Bachelor of Science in agronomy from SDSU in Brookings, SD.
On August 2, 1952, Elton was united in marriage to Beverly Jane Krier in Henricks, MN.
Elton worked as a County Extension Agent in Minnehaha and Lake counties. He also worked at Northwestern National Bank and Norwest/Wells Fargo as an Assistant Vice President for 25 years. He was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW, Elks Club, Westward Ho Country Club, Sioux Empire Fair Farm Show, Sioux Falls Farm Show, South Dakota Farm Managers Association, National Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Society. He was also a Fellow at Augustana University.
Agriculture & Farming were a few of Elton's greatest passions. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, golfing, reading, traveling and playing cards with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 68 years, Beverly of Sioux Falls; children, Clair Leon Budahl, Jane (Ray) Baysore and Clark Elton Budahl all of Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Ryan (Jill) Budahl, Stacy Baysore, Scott (Kati) Budahl and Steven (Melissa) Baysore; 5 great-grandchildren, Emilee, Presley, Dawson, Matthew and Dominic; 2 step great-grandchildren, Corey and Morgan; and a brother, Loren (Deanna) Budahl of Madison, SD.
Elton is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ella Budahl; brothers, Glenn, Leland, Donald and Carol; sisters Mavis Budahl and Lucille Decker; a great-grandson, Henry Lawrence Budahl and a step great grandson, Ryan Cooley.
Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, December 4, 2020 at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Peace Lutheran Church, 5509 W. 41st Street. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Budahl passing. I have many great memories of the Budahls and Westward Ho C.C. I caddied for them, I cleaned their clubs and always knew that they were a wonderful example of good people. They watched me grow up. I think my Mom Carolee was a golfing buddie of Bev's?

Elton and I worked together on many, many occasions. He had so much knowledge on many subjects that we had in common. Sometimes, we would just sit and visit about the good old days.
I will have pleasant memories of our times together. Rest in peace, my friend.
