Fred Lauer Obituary
Fred Allan Lauer, 93, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Fred was born on April 19, 1923, in Hartford, SD to Nicklaus and Elsie (Lueth) Lauer. He graduated from Dell Rapids High School in Dell Rapids, SD in May of 1942. While in school, he excelled in athletics. He also attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD for a short time. He was in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving in the South Pacific for many months.
Fred worked in Sales and also had his own business. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard.
Fred is survived by three sons: Craig of Salt Lake City, UT; Kent of Reno, NV; and Jay of Parker, CO. He is also survived by one brother, Jack Lauer of Brandon, SD and one sister, Elaine Church of Sioux Falls, SD and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Fritz and Betty Gallagher.
A private service will be held at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.

Fred was a client on our Meals on Wheels route. I LOVED talking with him whenever we delivered to his home. I just found out that he passed away and was so saddened to hear the news. Fred was a wonderful person and I am so glad I met him!
