Fred Lauer

Fred Lauer, 80, of Willoughby, died on Feb. 9, 2026, after a tough fight against pulmonary fibrosis. The son of the late Harold and Anna Catherine Lauer, he grew up in Byesville, Ohio. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, he moved to Cleveland to take a job at Halle's. He retired from The Lubrizol Corp. He and his wife, Bonnie, lived in Wickliffe for over 30 years. Fred lived to travel, visiting six continents. He researched his family history with a passion. And he discovered cooking in his 50s, becoming an avid bread baker. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie (Haywood); daughters Katie (Brad) Wadington and Emily Lauer; grandchildren Sarah and John Wadington; his sister, Nancy Wilson; close cousin John (Deb) Wheeler; three nieces and a nephew; several cousins and grandnieces and a grandnephew.
