Sharon Annette Lanier, 77, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Smithville-Western Care Center after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Sharon was born on Nov. 24, 1948, in Wellington to Warren “Jack” and Pauline Lucille (Berry) Wohlgemuth. She graduated from Wellington High School and had attended Moody Bible College and Grace Bible College before graduating from Bowling Green State University. She had been a schoolteacher having taught at Max Hayes High School and had later worked at Wayne County Public Library in Wooster. Sharon was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rittman and had enjoyed traveling and watching her investments. She enjoyed helping organize her High School Reunions and had served as the secretary of the Homeowners Association at Smithville-Western.
Surviving is her husband, Charles “Chuck” Lanier who she married on Aug. 18, 2018; step-children, Duane Morgan Jr., Amy (Joel) Montgomery, Angela Stephens, Abby (Chris) Schwartz and Chris (Erika) Lanier; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and uncles, Donald (Cynthia) Berry and Kenneth (Carolyn) Berry.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Duane Morgan in 2016 and her parents.
Services will be Thursday, April 2nd at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Mike Lamar officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon on Thursday. Burial will be later at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wellspring Hospice, 3905 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44053.
