Marlene Rollinger

Sioux Falls - Marlene L. Rollinger, 81, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 PM Fri., Sept. 9 at St. Lambert Catholic Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation begins at 5 PM Thur., Sept. 8 at George Boom Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends starting at 5 PM, the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 PM and a Liturgical Wake Service starts at 7 PM.

Marlene L. Klatt, daughter of Odin and Charlotte (McDonald) Klatt, was born Nov. 12, 1934 in Sioux Falls. Other than 2 years in Alaska during her youth, she was a life-long Sioux Falls resident. Marlene grew up and received her education on the east side and graduated from Washington High School in 1953.

Marlene was united in marriage with Arthur Rollinger on June 5, 1953 in Sioux Falls. The couple made their home and raised their family there. Marlene worked as a meat wrapper with Sunshine Foods for 31 years before retiring in 1988.

Marlene was an active member of St. Lambert Catholic Church and served on many committees there. She was a member of the Post Office Auxiliary. She loved gardening, walking, reading, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Marlene was also a history buff and enjoyed watching historical documentaries on TV.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Kim Rollinger and Karin Rollinger, both of Sioux Falls, Pamela Rollinger, Monhegan, ME, Laura (Fred) Snoderly, Madison, SD; 2 granddaughters, Heather (William) Hellwig and Nicole (Scott) Gillatt, both of Nampa, ID; and 3 siblings, Charlotte (Jim) Clark, Oregon, WI, David (Nancy) Finney and Steven (Jannette) Finney, both of Sioux Falls.
