Virgil Dykstra Obituary
Sioux Falls - Virgil Dykstra, 87, formerly Lennox, died Friday, July 20, 2018 at Dow Rummel Village, Sioux Falls. He was born in 1931 and grew up in the Humbolt area graduating from Humbolt High in __??. He attended Sioux Falls Collage and the then served in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1951 he married Donna Poppenga. The couple farmed near Lennox until 1986 when he went to work for Sioux Valley Hospital until 1996. They moved to Sioux Falls in 2014. Virgil served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and Moderator of the Siouxland Presbytery.. He had served for 9 years on the Union Gospel Mission Board and belonged to the Chancellor American Legion. Survivors: Donna; children: Kevin (Anne) Dykstra, Decorah, IA, Cynthia (Joe) Ziegler, Esetro, FL, Gaylon Dykstra, Centreville, VA, and Craig (Judy) Dykstra, Lennox; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Ronald Dykstra and Ione Gangstad both of Sioux Falls. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox. dindotklusmann.com
