Darlene Haley Obituary

Darlene Elizabeth Haley was born on September 10, 1949 in Ontario, Oregon to Jimmy Lee and Ethel Goff. Her childhood was spent picking berries, babysitting, and enjoying many family outings in Idaho-simple moments that helped shape the warmth, work ethic, and love of family she carried throughout her life. In 1970, she met the love of her life, Bill Haley. Their partnership became the foundation of her life-a bond built on deep love, loyalty, and laughter. In 1979, with Bill, Brian and Justin by her side they set out on a great adventure, building a life together in Petersburg, Alaska. Through life's journey Bill was by her side and their connection remained a constant source of strength and comfort. His was the last voice that she heard.
She was a loving mother and a cherished Grammy, whose love and presence will be carried forward by her grandchildren. Mom's family was her heart, and she is forever woven into their lives. She cherished her doxies throughout her life; though most have passed, their love and companionship stayed with her always. Darlene loved the Assembly of God church, where her faith, friendships, and sense of community were an important part of her life.
Darlene found joy in life's simple pleasures: coffee with friends, heartfelt conversations, quiet moments of reading, baking for those she loved, and sewing projects crafted with care and intention. She especially cherished time spent with her coffee buddy, whose friendship meant so much to her and will be deeply missed.
She was also known by many in Petersburg as the friendly face at the Hammer & Wikan Hardware checkout, where she worked for over 30 years. Her smile, kindness, and genuine interest in others made everyday errands brighter and left a lasting impression on countless people.
For nearly 18 years, Darlene faced cancer with remarkable strength, stubbornness, and grace. Even in the hardest moments, she remained deeply concerned for others, quick to laugh, and eager to bring comfort wherever she could. Mom turned the final page in her book of life peacefully on December 27, 2025, just after Christmas-her favorite holiday-surrounded by love. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother ("Grammy"), and friend whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Haley; children Justin Haley (and his wife, Athena), Brian Haley (and his partner, Tara), and Terra Anglin (and her husband, Tommy); grandchildren Dylan, Johnny, Danny, Logan, Taylor, Anthony, and Kayla; along with many extended family members and friends who became family over the years. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Her family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown during Mom's final days.
A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at later date. In her memory, the family encourages shared laughter and time spent with those you love-just as Mom would have wanted

Darlene would usually come to see us when she came back to Payette. She started her hardware journey at Kinney & Keele. She would always bring us stories of life in Petersburg. What a beautiful spirit.
