Gary Halcom Obituary
February 28, 1941 - January 3, 2025
Services for Gary Halcom, 83, who died Friday, January 3, 2025, will be conducted January 17, at 11 a.m. at the Ontario Nazarene Church, with inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario, OR.
Gary was born February 28, 1941, in Ontario, to John and Jennie Halcom. He attended school in Ontario, graduating in 1959. After High School, he attended Portland State College, graduating in 1965. He started working at Treasure Valley Community College in 1965, becoming the Director of Financial Aid and retired in 1995.
Gary married Dolores Duus in Nyssa in 1963.
Gary was a member of the Elks Lodge for 58 years and a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He served on the Ontario City Budget committee for several years and was a member of the TVCC Foundation board.
Gary and Dolores owned a cabin in Sumpter, OR, where they enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also interested in classic cars, owning three special ones.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores; brother, David (Pam); and four nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie Halcom; sister, Cleta May; brother, Loran; and a half sister, Maxine.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Halcom Family Scholarship at TVCC.

I met Gary when he become a member of our RMEF chapter. Gary was a very valued committee member. He and Delores were very instrumental setting up our banquets. Gary was a special guy! RIP

Gary was such a sweet and generous man. I'm glad I got to work with him at TVCC and after he retired, getting him to volunteer to serve on my Foundation where he was an engaged and active member before he had to move to Emeritus status because of his health. It has been a pleasure to get to know him and Delores on a a more personal level over the past several year. I am grateful for their commitment to education and support of the Foundation and the College. We will miss him.
