Born: June 4, 1937 | Died: August 20, 2025

Dorsey Arnold Pruitt, age 88, of Crumpler, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 4, 1937, in Ashe County to the late Alfred Talmadge and Liza Ellen Blevins Arnold. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Delphine McMillan and Loraine Hutchinson as well as three brothers, R.C. Arnold, Sonny Arnold and Malcolm Arnold.

A woman of strong faith, Dorsey was a lifelong member of New River Baptist Church, where she found comfort, strength, and joy in her unwavering relationship with the Lord. From a young age, her love for God was evident in everything she did.

Dorsey had a special affinity for flowers and gardening. Her hands were often busy planting and tending to the blooms that filled her home and yard.

Known for her delicious meals and warm hospitality, Dorsey was always in the kitchen, sharing her love with family and friends through cooking. Her family will fondly remember her homemade dishes, which were often a highlight of gatherings and celebrations.

Dorsey was never far from those she loved, she was always keeping up with her family and friends through Facebook, staying connected and sharing her witty humor, spiritual insights, and love for life. She had a unique ability to bring joy to others with her sharp wit and infectious laugh. Dorsey's sense of humor, combined with her deep spiritual faith, made her a cherished presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs. Pruitt is survived by her husband, Terry Pruitt, her children, Benny Phipps (Brenda) of Greensboro, Randy Phipps of Warrensville, Dennis Phipps (Leslya) of Wilkesboro, Becky Phipps Erdner (Pete) of Greensboro, Pam Phipps Parsons (Jeff) of Jefferson, Kenneth Pruitt (Christie) of West Jefferson and Keith Pruitt of Mountain City, TN. Also surviving is one brother, Melvin Arnold (Peggy) of FL, 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and Terry and Dorsey's fur baby, Carly.

A Private Graveside Service was held.

The family respectfully requests no food please; memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Scott Blevins Cemetery Fund, c/o Roger Church, 453 Edwin Blevins Rd., Lansing, NC 28643.

Dorsey Arnold Pruitt's love for her family, her faith, and her community will be remembered forever, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
