Geneva Carol Spencer, 68, of Lansing, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her home.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Ashe County on Monday, September 19, 1955 to the late Charles Victor and Agnes Ham Greer.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, two brothers, Marvin Lester Greer, Eddie Dean Greer, two sisters, Linda Kay Tedder and Judy Ann Poe.
Geneva was known for her servant's heart and hospitality, often expressed through her signature spaghetti and yeast rolls. She loved cooking large meals and her door was always open to family and friends. She retired from Ashe County Schools and was a faithful member of Sturgills Baptist Church. She and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Freida Barker, were instrumental in reviving the Helton Community Center. Geneva kept her family close and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by husband, Kenneth Spencer, one son, Greg Spencer (Crystal) of West Jefferson, two daughters, Kelly Witherspoon (Mario) of Purlear and Mandy Walls (David) of West Jefferson, two brothers, James Robert Greer (Janice) of Kannapolis, and Richard Glen Greer (Carol) of Lansing, four sisters, Lenna Virginia Rineair of Georgia, Mary Delphia Block (Michael) of California, Ella Mae Shepherd (Ralph) of Winston Salem, and Georgia Greer of West Jefferson, two grandchildren, Gregory Spencer, Chloe Witherspoon, two brothers in law, Danny Tedder and Roger Poe; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were held Monday, September 25, 2023 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lloyd Day and Pastor Michael Greer officiating. Burial followed in Spencer Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 12:30-2:00 pm prior to the service.
