Shirley Jo Deakins Miller, 85, of West Jefferson, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at her home.
Mrs. Miller was born on May 6, 1937 in Clay County, Indiana to Albert Veron Deakins and Hazel Marie Cheek Deakins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Claude Allen Miller, Sr.
Mrs. Miller retired from Ashe County Schools where she worked as a bus driver and cafeteria worker at Fleetwood Elementary School. She was an excellent cook, and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Miller is survived by one son, Claude Allen Miller, Jr. of West Jefferson; two daughters, Pamela Vega of West Jefferson and Danna Little of Jefferson; one sister, Donna Wells of Indiana; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Mark Harless and the Rev. Chris Goodman. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
