Robert "Bob" Anthony Zar, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at LakeHouse Fond du Lac - Assisted Living. He was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, on January 13, 1934, son of Anthony and Sylvia Zar.
On August 27, 1955, Bob married Carolyn Gaudette. They were married for 69 years. He graduated from Northland College and earned his Master's Degree from Superior State University. His teaching career included Solon Springs, Ashland, and Fond du Lac. He taught for a total of 32 years.
Bob was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and FDL Stamp Club.
He was an avid Dodger fan, always wearing his blue Dodger hat. His love of baseball led to years of playing baseball and softball with various teams. One of Bob's greatest thrills was his hole in one at Crystal Lake Golf Course. His other hobbies included stamp collecting, woodworking, Civil War history, and puzzle making.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; two sons: Darryl (Mary Lou) and Darren (special friend Randy Stevens); two grandchildren: Andrea (Joe) Heffner and Anthony (Melissa); three great grandchildren: Aiden Heffner, Eli Zar and Lucy Zar. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Edna Zar and Chris Zar; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Sylvia; brothers: Allan, Clarence, and Earl; and sister Dee Ann.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00 - 1:00 PM on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Private family Memorial service and inurnment to take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Ledgeview Memorial Park, with Rev. Tom Meyer officiating.

One of my favorite teachers in Ashland. Choir was super important to us and Mr. Zar inspite us to do the best we could.
