Wally Hisle Obituary

WALLY GENE HISLE Wally Gene Hisle, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 18, 2024. Wally was born on November 7, 1940, in Atchison, Kansas, to Ralph and Bernice (Dierking) Hisle. Wally graduated from Atchison Community High School in 1958 and went on to study at The Teachers College at Emporia State University. He served in the United States Air Force security service, spending 27 months stationed in Crete, Greece, before moving to Madrid, Spain. It was in Crete where he met and married his wife, Marika Kaliakaki. They were blessed with two children, Danise Eve Hisle and Heath Dimitri Hisle, who tragically passed away before their first birthdays. Wally joined the carpentry business RL Hisle with his father before moving to Kansas City. He worked at several businesses in the area and eventually retired from Smurfit-Stone Container in Liberty, Missouri. Known for his good character, Wally always had a story to tell, a firm handshake, and a readiness to help out whenever needed. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and was passionate about golf, playing on many beautiful courses. He was also the commissioner of a local baseball league. Wally was married to Linda Banks for 40 years and helped raise her two sons, Andy Banks and Joe Banks. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Hisle, mother Bernice Gentry-Hisle, stepfather Robert Gentry, and two brothers, Lanny Dean Hisle and Jerry Lynn Hisle. Wally is survived by his brothers Gary Hisle and Jay Hisle, and his sister Lana (Hisle) Zwygart. May his memory be eternal.

Uncle Wally. The Uncle that showed me love, kindness, laughter, and has always inspired me in life. You were the closest to my mother. The bond there was strong. Always lit up a room wherever you were. Always made me giggle growing up when I was at Grandma´s house / farm. You will always and truly be missed and remembered. LOVE YOU UNCLE WALLY!
