Esther Lowery Obituary

Nelsonville Esther Emmaline Lowery (Dickerson), 88, of Nelsonville, OH, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on August 22, 2023. She was born on January 7, 1935, to Max & Elizabeth Dickerson of New Plymouth. Esther was the widow of the late Harold Lowery who passed away in 2016.

Together, Harold & Esther owned Lowery Trucking who's supplied the area with hauling services since 1978. She also attended Oak Grove Wesleyan Church for many years.

She had a heart for helping others and loved her family dearly. She was known well for her cooking, especially her peanut butter fudge and apple pies, and her love for her hummingbirds. Esther will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind two daughters, Tracey Dupler and Terri Savely (Tony Burchfield) both of Nelsonville; grandchildren, James Gallagher (Troy Nuckols) of Pickerington, Tara (Jay Smathers) Dupler of Nelsonville, Shaun Gallagher of Athens, & Amy (Michael) O'Nail of Nelsonville; sisters, Darlene Swart, Drucilla Farmer, & Brenda (Gerald) Wend; sisters-in-law, Diane (Larry) Pidcock, Edna Mae Levering, & Marilyn Dickerson; several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews; and special family friend, Bobbie Sullivan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was proceeded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Ann (Larry) Gallagher; sons-in-law, Eddie Savely & Bob Dupler; sister, Lena (Les) Brooks; brothers, Meryl Dickerson, Jerry (Myrna) Dickerson, Eddie (Rita) Dickerson & Randy Dickerson; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nichols-Buffington, Janice Lowery, Phyllis Lowery; and brothers-in-law, John Levering, Kenny Lowery, Thomas (Sue) Lowery, Morris Jr. Lowery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to OhioHealth at Home Hospice for the wonderful care they've provided in her last few weeks.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville, with Pastor Mark Dupler officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service.
