Ethan was the best sister i could ever have to learn from, to know, to love and be loved by, to share with. He will always live in my heart and soul. XO

Dear Debbie and the broader Ethan Greene / James Richardson community,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Ethan was a truly special person in my life. In the early 90s, I was one of those occasionally lost people he took under his wing. He brought me into the real Athens and Blue Eagle community, and there are so many memories — hours on Court Street doing the 'rubberneck waltz' on the bench, gigs at Casa, and endless kitchen-table conversations at your house always people coming and going.
Ethan had a gift for gathering eclectic souls and making each of us feel like we were 'okay'. He helped me after an accident, met my parents, taught my friends’ kids guitar, gifted me a new guitar from the Eagle... and even got me started gardening — and he and Debbie cared for my dog when I moved overseas. Ethan was one of those kinds of friends. The dogs, the frogs, the songs, the Biester Birthday Cards, the Cherry Pepsi.
I’m feeling the blues today buddy and I'm feeling sorry I didn’t keep in touch the last few years and should have thanked you in person.
Thank you, Ethan, for all that living, and the good vibes you gave to us all.
With deep sympathy,
Colleen Mixon

The beginning...
In the dorms, 1983 or 84 Ethan came and did a little guitar workshop. All the kids with their cheap impossible to tune guitars showed up and learned a little bit, what a nice thing to do.
Fast Forward..
I never left Athens and got to know Ethan and the universe of folks who's orbits included the bench at Blue Eagle, or a game of scrabble at the counter. Thanks Ethan for being that hub.

Sending my love and prayers to Ethan’s family. He taught my brother and me guitar at an early age. He was such a talented musician and above all else, such a kind and caring person. Never do I or will I hear “ Time in a Bottle” without thinking of Ethan, as this was one of the first song’s he taught me to play. Rest in peace Ethan.
