J.D. Jewell Obituary
Born Nov. 27, 1928, in Columbus, he was the son of the late John Leonard Sr. and Virginia Coleman Jewell. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and retired bridge foreman of B&O Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Stanley Jewell; children, Sharon (Elvis) Current of Wellston and Cindy Taylor of McArthur; step-children, Lavonda (Marvin) Lawrence and Kay (Opie) Triplett, both of New Marshfield; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Hunkerford Jewell; daughters, Linda Kay Jewell Atkins and Jenny Lynn Jewell; and siblings, Catherine Shreeves, Clara Ridgeway, Harriett Martin, John Jewell Jr. and Mary Ellen Godfrey.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home with Rev. John Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Minear Cemetery, with military services by Albany VFW Post 9893, and K.T. Crossen American Legion Post 21. Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. until services.

A master of prose, poetry, and purty music, an inventor of outlandish art pieces and possessing a wicked sense of humor - once you met JD, he was not to be forgotten. So very thankful I was one of The Jewel's friends. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed! Sympathies to his beloved wife and family.
