Jacksonville Jo "Sue" E. (Sayre) Taylor, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her devoted family.
Sue was born in Jacksonville, Ohio on June 17, 1944, to Frances and Harry Sayre. She attended J.T. High School and graduated from Central High School in 1962. Sue was always proud to be from the rolling hills of her hometown-where she also met the love of her life, Jerry Taylor, her husband of 62 wonderful years.
Sue and Jerry made their home in Columbus, Ohio, where they raised three incredible children: Terri Helsel, Sam Taylor, and Jer (Kim) Taylor. Sue also enjoyed a fulfilling career as a DC Supervisor at The Limited, where she was known for her dedication, hard work, and impressive skills as a forklift operator, before retiring in 2012. Sue also made wonderful memories working for Advocate for Kids Bingo, and managing Dairy Queen on Noe Bixby Rd.
Sue was a devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church in Walnut Heights and Jacksonville United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, OH. Sue loved traveling across the U.S.-whether on the back of Jerry's Harley Davidson or from the comfort of their camper. She served as a strong and loving matriarch to all who knew her. Gathering people around her kitchen table for a meal, a cup of coffee, or simply a good conversation brought her immense joy.
Above all, she cherished her role as "Grandma" to Terri's children, Samantha (Leon), Nick, and Heath (Michele); Sam's children, Andrew, Nick (Gaby), Allie (Mike), Morgan, and Kate; Jer's (Kim) children, Macey (Dylan), Terri (Brady), Madylin (Kobe), Emma, and Jesse; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her family was her greatest blessing. We will remember her boisterous laugh, happy smile, unwavering strength, steadfast faith, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved.
Sue is survived by; her devoted sons, Sam and Jer (Kim); loving brother, Bob (Frances). Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Harry; her brother, Larry; her precious daughter, Terri; and her beloved husband, Jerry.
Sue would encourage us all to live a life of faith in the Lord, to love your family and friends unconditionally, and to show kindness to everyone you meet.
"In the end, it is what is in your heart and soul that matters."
