Richard Haning Obituary
He attended Athens High School and later received his GED. He retired after 20 years of service from Ohio University as an electrician. He enjoyed coin collecting, gardening and especially his family. He was a lifelong Athens County resident.
Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lisa Draper Haning; a daughter, Melissa (John) Haggy of Middleport; a son, Richard W. (Kara) Haning of Albany; six grandchildren, Andrea McGrath, Kayle Haning, Annie McGrath, Savannah Haning, Cory Haning and Wyatt Haning; one great grandchild, Eleanor McGrath Lobdell; two sisters, Jannette Haning Smith of Athens and Angela Haning of Athens; a brother, Jonathan Haning of Mt. Orab; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Suzanne Willison and Rebecca Haning; and an infant brother, James Haning. Graveside service will be conducted Thursday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Haning Cemetery, Alexander Township. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Sorry to see that Richard passed away. Worked with Rich when he and I first started doing electrical work. He was very good electrician and fun to have as a friend . Had some good times to reflect on. Used to call him Hitchard Raning and he called me Mohn Jitchell ! He was a honest honorable person and wish we had kept in touch. Best wishes to the family and hopefully your grief is short.
