A. McGINTY Obituary

McGINTY, A. Park PARK MCGINTY Park McGinty, 71, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 in New York City after a three year battle with cancer that he endured with courage and grace. Park McGinty was born in Atlanta, GA on June 15, 1943, the only child of Dr. A. Park McGinty and Murray Smith. He had lived in Manhattan for the past thirty two years. Park graduated from the Westminster Schools, the University of North Carolina where he was a Morehead Scholar and captain of the soccer team, the University of Chicago (PhD) and Yale Law School. After earning his JD from Yale in 1983, he practiced law in New York City with Da-vis Polk & Wardwell. He left the practice of law in order to teach at New York Law School. Over the past ten years, Park devoted himself to the full time creation of art and the develop-ment of his signature style. His sculptures and paintings involve the intricate placement of glass, beads, and jewels to represent his vision of ecstasy in color, form, and light. His will provides for a Foundation to preserve and promote his art. A Memorial Service was held in New York on Sunday, April 26.

The first time I talked to Park at Chapel Hill. I do not know what we were talking about. What I do remember is Park kicked pebbles into a tin can. I treasure that memory. I hope his wife to whom I spoke at Chapel Hill will find peace. She talked about Park and their children, all of whom were excellent science and math students.
