What a person! I remember him like it was yesterday on the school lawn conducting the marching band! A few people stick out in your memories from high school and always make you wonder and hope that they go onto live an amazing life. I can see from all of your entries that Adam went on to do just that. I am so glad that there are so many who had the opportunity to meet this amazingly talented and charismatic person. Rest in Peace Adam.

My condolences to Adam's family and friends, I can not imagine your loss. I really only "knew" Adam for about fifteen minutes...as kids at a regional band festival, we were on break and Adam decided to sing "My Funny Valentine" to me and I never forgot that moment or his name. When I saw Adam on FaceBook I knew I had to reach out to re-connect and I am very happy I did! I got to know a very kind, sensitive, sincere and generous man. Sharp wit and kind humor punctuated his posts! I will hold that moment we shared as a treasure and thank you for letting me share it with you all.

Sadly we send condolences from our family to Adam's loved ones, friends and to the Atlanta music community. It was our privilege to work with Adam over the last year. His presence and essence will be missed. He was a compassionate friend, late night scrabble partner, generous with his talent and.. an exquisite trombonist.

Adam touched my life in so many ways! When we were kids, he was kind and thoughtful (he's the only boy who ever tried to teach me to throw a football!) We reconnected on Facebook about a year ago, and that friendship has meant so much to me! He truly affected the way I thought about myself and the world. He was a special, special person, I really loved him, and I miss him terribly!!

Adam Mewherter is a name I will never forget. Every time I saw him, he had a smile on his face and a spring in his step. Our paths crossed very few times but there was a strong connection each time. He was a loyal friend to anyone that knew him. It is a true loss for family and friends everywhere. Thoughts and prayers from our family to his. God Bless.

I will miss you Adam. Playing together, laughing together, and just talking on the phone when he would call me for no apparent reason except to talk. The last time we spoke I told him I loved him which makes me happy that it was one of the last things I had to say to him. May you rest in eternal peace my brother and the Lord God Almighty watch over over you til we meet again.

It has been many years since I was Blessed to perform with Adam and share the magic he so possessed on stage. Our paths took us down different musical roads. We would run into each other from time to time during our orchestration of life - and he was always the sweet, kind, smiling gentleman I'd remembered. "Funny how the time just flies - how love can go from warm hellos to sweet goodbyes - and leave you with the memories you've memorized - to keep your winters warm." God rest in peace, dear one.

In 1983, I was a sophomore when Adam was a senior at Derry Area H.S. Sitting next to Adam in the trombone section was inspiring. Adam was 1st chair first and I felt tremendously lucky to sit 1st chair second next to him because I learned so much from Adam. Adam was supremely talented and was never arrogant nor condescending with his immense talent. Adam always treated me with upmost respect and lighthearted kindness during a time when I was often picked on by some other kids simply because I was a girl who played trombone. Back in those small town days, it was contrary to social norms for a girl to play a low brass instrument. Sitting next to Adam was like having a good natured brother who watched out for me; I felt safe and comfortable next to Adam. So many of us admired him greatly for his spontaneous sense of humor and his electric leadership. Adam was drum major of our marching band and all eyes were on him when he'd confidently lead us onto the field. Upon hearing the sad news of Adam's passing, I took out my yearbook and smiled when I saw Adam had signed: "To Lisa, The girl who keeps me practicing. Thanks for the competition!" Although I no longer play trombone and instead play Celtic harp, Adam will be in my thoughts as I practice today. In honor of Adam, I'll throw in lots of "extra wicked" harp glissandi to remind me of our high school days of Lassus Trombone, Sousa marches, and stage band. I remember how before rehearsals, Adam and I would sit there and playfully compete with each other trying to see who could play the lowest pedal tone, who could make the most extreme glissando, who could play the highest note, or who make the fastest run while still keeping it musical 'cause speed isn't everything. Adam was always the best! I have such fond memories from that year of sitting next to Adam. I am so very sorry over the untimely loss of Adam. My sincerest condolences go to Adam's family and friends.

Adam was a substitute at Chamblee Middle School and was such a nice guy. He frequently subbed for music classes which was right up his alley. He will be missed. Our thoughts go out to his family in his untimely passing. The faculty and staff of Chamblee Middle School.

I played several shows with Adam here and there, usually with Andrew Black. The best time I got to spend with him was a couple hours before a big show on the Marietta square, having a nice dinner while we waited. Adam was as pleasant to hang with as he was talented to work with. It's no mystery that the professional music community is heartbroken to lose Adam. Thanks for everything, my friend.

Adam was a friend and fellow trombonist who had fire from the soul of his being that has touched me forever. He never showed arrogance when he could have rightly done so with such an immense gift that he carried so lightly. I have joyful and inspiring great memories of the times I was blessed to travel, play alongside or talk to him, and will miss him. Rest in peace brother.

Dear Adam,
May your soul find solace. May your spirit be at peace. The farthest reaches of the universe and beyond are now at your grasp. As you begin this journey, know that those of us left behind miss you deeply and will always remember. To some, a mere acquaintance; to others a dear and loving friend; to music an honest voice. To You, Adam. You will be greatly missed.

When I met Adam several years ago, I was immediately struck by his uniqueness and sincerity. He was definitely unlike anyone I had previously known. As I got to know him better, I came to realize that this, along with his kind and gentle soul, creativity, and expert musicianship (among many other things) all blended together to make him one of the most interesting and brilliant people I've ever known. I count myself lucky to have been his friend and I feel that my life has been enriched by knowing him. I don't know who originally said it, but there is a quote that says, "Some people stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same." To me, it seems fitting with Adam. My thought are with Adam's family during these difficult and sad times.

My prayers got to Adam's family. I had the honor of playing with him in countless bands over the years. As fine as a musician as he was, (and there were few better)he was a better man. He is quite possibly the most genuine and caring person I have ever met. His spirit will be forever missed.

We lost a talented musician who not only was master of his instrument(s), but was seasoned enough to project his soul and expression into his horn and into the music he was performing. Currently, I don't know of many musicians rising to that level of perfection and transparency. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and to the Atlanta musical community at large.

I send my sincere condolences to your family. I was so very blessed to have performed with Adam and even more blessed and fortunate to have called him 'friend'. He was one of the most genuine and talented people I have ever known, and everyone in the Atlanta musical community knew there no one you could count on more for whatever was needed. He had a heart of gold, always had a joke or comment to keep us smiling, and always had a shoulder to lean on in difficult times. I have been heart-broken ever since hearing the news. To me, Adam was a mentor, a leader, a teacher, a great friend, and my life has truly been changed from having the distinct pleasure of knowing him. I am so honored and blessed to have had him in my life. May God give your family peace and strength during this very difficult time.

Adam was a great friend during my music playing days. He and I hung out more than a little in the early 1990's. He even went with me to New York to stay with my brother. We hung out and recorded a small demo tape together with a few NY musicians that were friends of my brother. He was so creative. A big loss.

I will miss him and wish all of the family peace. He was a good soul.

Adam was the dearest person one could possibly know. He had an innocence to him that always touched me. And though he was certainly capable of discipline and depth, he had a wonderful light-heartedness about him and generally kept us all laughing. He could utter them most seemingly random thoughts and then bring them full circle to make a point. And what can I say about his musical ability? Flawless! Truly one of the greatest trombonists I ever heard. I will miss Adam greatly and know he is, right now, showing the other trombone angels just how it's done. Farewell, dear friend.

Adam worked as a substitute teacher at Pleasantdale Elementary School quite often. He was a kind, gentle soul who loved the children and treated them with such respect. I loved having him teach my music classes. The kids really enjoyed his musicianship and his wit. I loved that my children were still able to have music when I was absent. As for me, Adam was always kind, interested and a joy to be around. My life is richer for having known him. Rest in peace dear Adam.
