Albert Green Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
GREEN, Albert Mr. Albert (A.J.) Green, Sr. of Fairburn passed away September 15, 2008. Mr. Green was the owner of Green Insurance Agency in Fairburn for 40 years and also the owner of the Green Manor Restaurant in Union City which began in 1990. He was elected to the Fairburn City Council in 1966 and served until 1970 and was then elected as Mayor of the City of Fairburn where he served from 1970 until 1988. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1954 , he began teaching business administration at Campbell of Fairburn High School for 13 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Jernigan Green and his second wife, Barbara Bendall Green and is survived by his sons, Patrick Green of Fairburn; Albert J. (Al) Green, Jr. of Franklin, GA; Young S. Green of Athens, GA ; grandchildren , Amanda McLeod and her husband Drew; Rebekah Dewitt, Melanie Dixon; Sandy Green , Katie Green, Jeff Green and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 3 o'clock at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Minister Keith Davenport officiating. Interment Fairburn City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244. Those wishing may send an on-line notice at www.parrottfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn. 770-964-4800.

I had a very happy visit with AJ at St Simons not many summers ago. He and I sat outside by my pool and shared a lifetime of "Hobgood cousin" good times.

Patrick, Al and young. You'll don't know me but I was a student of your Dad 1959, 1960, 1961. Later he was my Insurance agent. He was such a great guy in both capacitites. He has remained in my heart through the years. You have my deepest sympathy.
