Alton REDDICK Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
REDDICK, Alton Alton Irwin Reddick of Tucker, Georgia went to be with his Savior Saturday May 25th at the age of 86. He was born in Arlington, Georgia, but moved to Bainbridge, Georgia at an early age. After graduating from Bainbridge High School, he entered Mercer University. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After 2 1/2 years he was honorably discharged and enrolled at the University of Georgia, where he married June Gatlin, his sweetheart of over 64 years. He worked in the grocery business, then the real estate field until retirement. He gave his life to the Lord at age 12, and became a Spirit-filled Christian in 1974. He was ordained a deacon in 1954 at Tucker Baptist, and later served at Rehoboth Baptist (2 Locations), Northwoods Baptist, and Mountain West Church of God. He was active in The Gideon's International, and loved to share his faith in the Lord Jesus with others. He is survived by his wife June Reddick; his two boys, Phil Reddick (Anne) and David Reddick (Sharon); his four grandchildren, Ginny Reddick, Catherine Reddick Whitehill (Robert), Kathleen Reddick Smith (Stephen) and Claire Reddick; his great grandson, Suther Dane Smith; and his sister, Joyce Reddick Schafer. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday May 28th, 2:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory with a reception following the service.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Al while employed at the DeKalb Association of REALTORS. He would often come into my office and we would sit and chat. We would solve all the problems of the world during those visits. A great guy.

June and family,
My heart is so saddened to hear of Al's death. Even though we know our loved ones are in heaven, it surely is difficult for those who remain on earth. You two, June and also Al, were mentors of mine at Northwoods Baptist Church. You were my piano/organ teacher, June. And I admired you and Al so much. The love between the two of you was precious. You were truly sweethearts of a lifetime. To you and your sons, Phil and David, and their families, I send my love and prayers.

Mr and Mrs Reddick opened their home to many of us Tucker High students in the early 1970's. Weekly we converged for a night of singing, fellowship, and learning about Jesus. Mr Reddick loved the Lord and young people and we were so blessed to know him. Thank you both for your love for us. I still think of you both often and always pray God will remember you for your kindness to us. I especially appreciate some of the one on one conversations with Mr Reddick and treasure his wisdom. May God comfort you and your family during this season. In Christ's love.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Al's passing. We became friends while he was an appraiser and I was employed by the DeKalb Board of REALTORS in Tucker. He would come in to do research and we would sit in my office and talk about everything and nothing. My condolences to his family.
