I am Andrew's second grade teacher and I remember him fondly! He was an inquisitive child and extremely bright! He had his own ideas about things which probably sparked his huge sense of wonder. Mostly, I remember his infectious smile and his kindness. Andrew will be sorely missed!!! What a loss to the medical profession! Blessings to his friends and family and especially to his parents. His mother was one of the kindest people I ever met and I know that Andrew came by that and many other fine qualities honestly! God bless those that loved Andrew and heal your broken hearts! May you rest in peace in heaven, Andrew!

I got to know Andrew when I was director of the Mercer medical library. He would take our broken models home to work on with his dad, and when he returned them, they looked new, not mended. He had an inquiring mind and positive, calm energy, and quickly became one of my favorite medical students. I am heartbroken to hear that his light among us has gone out. Thank you to the Bell family for putting him in my world for that time, and may peace be with you.

I first met Andrew on the last day of my orientation week at medical school. He'd been assigned as my "big sibling". We went to lunch and talked about what I had just gotten myself into. Despite my difficulty warming up to strangers, Andrew managed to make the encounter so easy and comforting that I forgot I had only met him minutes before. From that day on, until the last time I saw him, during the middle of his last year at medical school, he was always eager to help and offer advice whenever we'd run into each other. He was there for me when I struggled with the stress of school and family life, and he listened and gave me courage when I needed it most.
He was a kind and generous man and I will always think of him fondly and gratefully.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Bell family. I cannot imagine the magnitude of your grief.

Gail and Charley, my heart goes out to the two of you and your family at the loss of such an incredible young man. I'm glad he gave me the chance to teach him in the Post-baccalaureate program at Agnes Scott, and I am a better person for having known him. I still recall exactly where he sat n my class and I will admit that he was one of my favorite students in that program. Linda sends her best wishes to you. Harry

I was so shocked and saddened to hear this news about sweet Andrew. He was an amazing leader at our Chick-fil-A in Downtown Decatur and when he left for medical school we considered it one of our greatest triumphs to see him thrive and do so well with us and then move on to his dream. He will be forever missed and remembered. Comfort and peace to the Bell family.

Oh I just loved Andrew so much. He was such a truly special and wonderful soul. I got to know him when we were at Guilford together. He would often come visit me and Matt spencer, another Decaturite at our apartment in college. He was a welcomed guest- so much fun to be around- who also always brought or made us some kind of amazing food dish. He was so full of love and generosity. I think of him smiling. He had a great beam of light that flashed over his face when he smiled. He was such a genuinely sweet and kind person. The kind of person that stays in your heart forever. I am so deeply saddend by this loss. The world has lost a beautiful shining light. Sending his family much love and prayers.
