VISK, Anthony G. ANTHONY (TONY) G. VISK Anthony (Tony) G. Visk; scriptwriter, retired broadcasting and advertising executive. Atlanta- Anthony G. Visk, known in the broadcasting industry as "Tony", died October 7th, 2011. Born in Troy, N.Y., Mr. Visk was graduated from St. Anthony's School and Catholic Central High School, Troy. He also graduated from Palmer Institute of Authorship, Hollywood, and he attended Brown University, Providence, R.I. Mr. Visk was the son of the late Guy Visk and Mary LaPosta Visk of Troy. He was the brother of the late Guy A. Visk. Mr. Visk was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie P. Cioffi of Troy and two sons, Anthony, Jr., and Robert P. Visk, both of whom were Atlanta police officers. He fought in World War II with the 88th Infantry Division in Italy and was awarded three battle stars and the Bronze Star Medal for his achievements in ground operations against the enemy. His name is permanently inscribed on the Wall of Liberty in Normandy, France. Mr. Visk began his professional career writing comedy sketches and monologues for comics and entertainers the world over. Some of his original monologues were published in the book, 'Humorous Introductions for Emcees'. His material was used on major television and network shows including Bob Hope, Milton Berle and others. He also worked with and wrote special material for Ted Knight. From this beginning, Mr. Visk went into radio and television advertising and promotion. His first boss in broadcasting was the noted commentator, Lowell Thomas, a leader in the formation of Capital Cities Broadcasting. Mr. Visk worked for several stations in the Northeast, New England and Atlanta, and held the positions of promotion manager, sales promotion manager and merchandising director. He was associated with WROW/WTEN-TV and WPTR Radio in the Albany-Troy-Schenectady markets; WPRO Radio, Providence, R.I.; and WXIA-TV, Atlanta, where he was promotion manager. Mr. Visk later established Tony Visk Creative Broadcasting, a consulting and advertising firm specializing in sales promotions, radio and television commercials and public relations. He started his own school for broadcast writing and taught an evening course in writing ads for radio and television at Emory University. Mr. Visk was listed in Who's Who In Advertising and in Who's Who In The Southeast. Survivors include his wife, Linda Hayes Visk; a daughter, Nadine Lillo; four grandchildren, Nicole Lillo, Joseph Lillo, Lindsay Visk and Lacey Visk, a nephew; three nieces and several great nieces and nephews. A Wake will be held Monday, October 10th from 5-8pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 11th, 11 AM at the church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30341. Mr. Visk will be interred at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia, alongside his first wife and two sons. The family requests you honor Mr. Visk by sending flowers to the funeral home or those that wish may make a donation to the charity of your choice.
