I met Art at the Shaker Village Work Group, in Mt. Lebanon, NY in the early 60s. What a kind, warm and accomplished musician and fine artist. He introduced me to "old timey" music and even took a chance of letting me play his banjo. He also had a fretless banjo! I have both of his folk music anthologies. We stayed in touch through the years, once visiting him and Margo at the U. of Iowa. He was a unique man and will be sorely missed by all fortunate to have known him.

Art was a rock. A force of nature. An enthusiast for LIFE. A Renaissance Man of the highest order. Haven't seen him in years but feel emptier just knowing he's not out there. He reignited my interest in music and I will always be grateful to him.
