Family-Placed Death Notice

ANSLEY, Bill BILL ANSLEY William Smith "Bill" Ansley, age 84, died peacefully on February 29, 2012 at Sunrise of Johns Creek in Johns Creek, GA. A Georgia native, he was the son of Clifford and Frances Ansley. His wife, Jacqueline C. Ansley, his brother Cliff Ansley and sister Bitsy Otte preceded him in death. Bill attended high school in Decatur, GA and the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and was forever fond of his Bulldogs and Kappa Sigma brothers. Bill is survived by his sons, William S. Ansley, Jr. and his wife Joan Ansley of Johns Creek, GA and Lawrence M. Ansley of Atlanta, GA, and his daughter Carol Ansley of Aurora, CO. Bill's surviving family also includes granddaughters Shayna Ansley Bowen, Kelli Whitaker, Elizabeth Ansley Jeffers, and grandsons Whit Whitaker, William Ansley, III, Robert Ansley, and Charles Ansley. He also had three great grandsons, Luke Bowen, William Ansley, IV, and Ladson Whitaker. A veteran, he served in the Navy in WWII as a signalman. Bill put himself through Atlanta Law School at night while working as an insurance adjuster. After passing the Georgia Bar, he practiced law in Decatur, GA until his retirement in the late 1980's. Bill had many interests and was an avid golfer, civil aircraft pilot and a licensed sea captain. The family will receive friends at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home at 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA on Saturday, March 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with services to follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. A private internment will be held at the Destin Memorial Cemetery in Destin, FL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or online at www.alz.org. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory
