I am sad to hear he passed and would like to send my condolences to the family. We worked the night shift together on Tuesday's at the AUC Library from 2000-2003. He was a mentor, elder, and a friend. We loved to got to Chantrelles to get some soul food when we worked weekends together once a month. He was so much fun to be around, such a clown, and so dramatic :)

We will miss you Dr. Bean!!!!

I feel very blessed to know that I had the opportunity to meet Elder Bobby Bean. He was such a humble, down-to-earth, man of God. I only knew him for a short period of time, but he made such an impact. He allowed God to use him to speak life-changnig words of prophesy into my life that I'll never forget. He was also an awesome teacher. I had the chance to attend a seminar he conducted on COGIC history and needless to say, it was very informative. I thank God for placing him on this earth and sparing his life to build His kingdom. I love you Elder Bobby Bean.

Our prayers and thoughts go up for you in this time. May God give your family strength in the name of Jesus. We had only known Dr. Bean for a short time, yet his genuine personality and love for God always shined. No more pain or suffering for one of God's soldier's who stayed on the battlefield. You will be truly missed. God will give you strength in these times is our prayer.

I mourn the passing of our Brother Elder Bean. He was quite an inspiration to me. I have only been in the COGIC for 17 years. I came from another denomination. At an early period in my life with COGIC, I met Elder Bean at an AIM convention and asked him a thousand questions about the Grand Old Church and about Bishop Mason. He patiently answered them all and kind of took me under his wing. I will always appreciate him for that. I am praying with you family and for you because the Lord is your Comforter as you feel the sorrow of his loss. But I know you know Elder Bean is rejoicing in his victory in Jesus for he is experiencing eternal life, right now!
Love,

Mrs. Bean and the Bean family.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Bobby Bean's departure. I want you to be encouraged in the Lord. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

He was my friend and email buddy. From the time we met around 1989 I knew him as a gentleman, a scholar and as a wonderful man of God. I last saw him in Atlanta during the 2/07 Founder's week at Mason Theological where we shared some great laughs. Could me make a person laugh! He always called me "Mrs. Church of God in Christ" and as we met at conferences he shared, corrected and affirmed my work. I have referenced his book, "This is the COGIC" many times and I will miss him.

Thanks be to God for allowing Bobby to be such a positive influence on so many of us.

Dear Bean Family,
It was with great sorrow that I learned of Dr. Beans passing. I first met Elder Bean at a Society for Pentecostal studies (SPS). I was working on a cultural history of COGIC and God had me sit behind him. He had a copy of his book on COGIC, which I bought, and he immediately welcomed me, a white brother, warmly into the COGIC scholars fellowship. Subsequently we roomed together at SPS; I've appreciated his love for the Lord, love for the church, and love for me. I celebrate his joy, humor, teaching and friendship. I will miss him greatly. May God bless you, especially his family and closest friends as you daily grieve. May your grieving be joined by hope in the resurrection, and by God's abiding peace. Blessings,

Dr.Anthea Butler

Sister Bean and family,

I am so sorry to be adding my entry so late. It's has been a devasting loss to me, my family and church. I was blessed to meet Dr. Bob in 2003 or so when he came along with a mutual friend to the AAR conference in Toronto that year. Since then he's been my email and phone pal. I was overjoyed to have him minister at our church conference last year, where I had the chance to share him with the friends and saints in Canada. He was God's special gift, a mentor and teacher to some and to me my brother and friend.

Dr. Bob, when we meet again, the oxtail and rice is on me.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

When I began to work at Therrell, the first person I met was Dr. Bean. His committment to God, his vocation to education, and his genuine committment to the staff, faculty, and students was evident every day. He always had a good thing to say, even when confusion and frustration surrounded him. As we worked tandem this year, I always knew that I could count on him to ne there even when everyone else had gone home. The one sure thing that I know, is that God places true warriors on the lines of battle when the battle needs to be won. Dr. Bean was one of those true warriors. I shall miss him deeply.

Truly Doctor Bean lived for Christ and now he has gained his God-given reward. While his passing is sad, we can rejoice and take hope that he is now in Heavenly places with Christ...just where he should be.

Doctor Bean truly blessed us up here in Toronto when he came to speak at our Power & Purpose Conference last summer.

He was a wonderful teacher, a faithful man of God and a good friend. His knowledge was awesome, his teaching inspired and his smile infectious.

Our love and prayers to the family.

We love you, Dr B.

Words can’t express how I felt when I heard about the passing of this great man known as Dr Bobby Bean. I had the privilege of meeting Elder Bean during our Power and Purpose Conference here in the City of Toronto Canada. I must say that from the the 1st time we meet him @ the Air Port we could tell that he was a great man of God that was down to earth and able to put and keep a smile on the face of those he would come in contact with. During Dr Bean stay here in Toronto I was able to learn some life changing tools of how to deal with and communicate with the youth and students I work with from day to day. He was a truly blessing to many, and I thank God that he allowed our paths to cross. I will be sure to keep both his family and friends in my prayers.

I'm blessed to know Dr. Bean for the past few years. He was truly a Teacher sent from God the Father. As he preached the word and taught us in our Power and Purpose Conference last August, lives were changed and people were delivered.

Truly what you do for Christ will last. Dr. Bean's humour, love for God and example of faith will live on in all of us.

Thank God for Dr. Bean's blessed life.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of our friend, Dr. Bean. I just had a conversation with him in Memphis at the homegoing service for our Presiding Bishop. At our meeting he seemed to be his wonderfully jovial self. My last memory of him will be a happy one as we laughed and joked about how the change in the leadership of our denomination would create the opportunity for a new chapter in his book. He will be missed at our national meetings.

I was in total shock to hear about Dr. Bean's passing. He always gave me advice to strive harder to reach my goals and he stayed on me about going to class and staying out of the library. "Brittany Mack, do you have a pass in here?" "No Dr. Bean, but my teacher put me out of class!" "Not my problem. You still can't get a grade out of here! Bye Brittany." "But Dr. Bean, I have a project for another class!" "Bye Brittany." "Yes Sir." He stayed on those who he loved, and that wasn't difficult because he loved so many people. He was truly a loving man. I remember when I had to do the GGT makeup for the 5th or 6th time. Dr. Bean prayed with me and I passed. Thank you God for sharing this wonderful man with us and Thank you Dr. Bean for being a wonderful guy to all of the students who lives you touched at D.M Therrell High School.
