Family-Placed Death Notice
BARRETT, Brenda BRENDA FARR BARRETT Mrs. Brenda Farr Barrett 70, of Tucker Ga. passed away on December 26, 2011. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, David Winston Barrett. Brenda was born in Americus, Ga. on November 14, 1941 to Bessie Juanita Fishburne and Andrew Jackson Farr. She graduated from Hapeville HS in 1960. She participated with her husband in living history reenactment for over 25 years, was a dedicated member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church, Frankie Lyle Chapter No. 2074 U.D.C. and was Past Worthy Matron of Starlight Chapter No. 421 O.E.S. She served the Lord with joy in various volunteer roles. She is survived by her son, James W. Barrett of Tucker, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Russell Drake of Snellville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Samuel and Heather Barrett of Covington, Ga., Austin and Katherine Drake of Snellville, Ga. and Brother and Sister-in-law Wesley and Teresa Farr of Jonesboro, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the 4200 staff of DeKalb Medical Center, as well as, Odyssey Hospice in Decatur. A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 30th at 11:00 am at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church, 3142 Lawrenceville Rd. Tucker Ga. 30084 with Rev. Kathy McFarland officiating. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church. The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday, December 29 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur.

My wife, Julie, and I were Civil War reenactors with Brenda and David Barrett for eleven years! When we first got into the hobby, Brenda and David were two of the most welcoming people we had ever known. Always friendly, supportive and dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the 1860s. That was just the tip of the iceberg as to the kind of wonderful people David and Brenda were. We cherish their friendship and the time and memories we had together. They are together once again and we are certain that they know how much we love them and will miss them. God bless them both, and their fine family during this sad time. Doug & Julie Williams
