Brian Sturman Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Brian Jaye (Sam) Sturman, 83, of Alpharetta, GA died October 4, 2003. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, at Christ Church Episcopal in Norcross. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Sturman was the son of the late Brian Sturman, Sr. and Ruth McDaniel Sturman. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Gentry Sturman and the late Mildred Kitchens Sturman. A graduate of Georgia Tech, he also received an MBA from Harvard University and a degree in Law from Atlanta Law School. He was with Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 42 years which involved moves to Massachusetts, California, Saudia Arabia, and Pittsburgh, PA. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal of Norcross where he served on the vestry and school board and a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club. He is survived by his children, Anne (Doug) Cole of Macon, GA, June (Jack) Locke of Roswell, GA, John (Debbie) Sturman of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Laura Cole (Ron) Ezell of Charlotte, NC, Margaret Cole (Craig) Bagley, Richmond, VA, Allison Locke (Jason) VanNess of Macon, GA, Jaye Locke of Atlanta, GA and Sam Sturman of Greenville, SC; sister, June Sturman Moore of College Park, GA; and nieces and nephew. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the: American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Pkwy., Ste. 260, Duluth, GA 30097, (770) 814-0123. Arrangements by Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home, Norcross, GA (770) 448-5757.
