Caroline Axnick

Caroline Dendy Axnick, of Decatur, died Tuesday, August 2, 2018. She was 84.Carol, as she preferred to be called, was born on January 12, 1934 in Savannah to Alice and Jim Dendy. She grew up in the Savannah area and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia, where she was voted "Woman of the Year in Journalism" in 1957. She was married to Norman Axnick for over 50 years until his death in 2011. Carol's passions included college athletics, especially SEC football and her beloved Georgia Bulldogs. She also loved spending time on Tybee Island and in her later years, playing trivia and bridge with her friends at Brookdale Senior Living. She is survived by her son, Ron Axnick; daughter-in-law, Tracey Axnick; grandchildren, Jordan and Shelbie Axnick; as well as siblings Pam Limehouse and Don Phillip; and niece Kelly Limehouse. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 11th at 3:30 PM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur. Visitation is prior to the service from 2:30 - 3:30 PM. A.S.
