Harold and family, my heart goes out to you. Carolyn G. York Nephew Clark was a "Phenomenal Woman". She was my teacher from Tilson Elementary to Gordon High School. She was more than a music teacher to me, she introduced me to styles of music that I never would have learned or appreciated, and she taught with her heart and gave all of herself. She accompanied, conducted, directed, instructed, performed and created some of the most wonderful experiences and memories in my youth. I am honored that I had her as a part of my life. She is and will always be my inspiration!

Soft Voice, Powerful Presence, and Honesty. All these attributes come to mind when I think of her. I was taught Music by her from Tilson Elementary - Gordon High and I went on to Clark College to study Music Theory. What an impact huh. I think it is important to know what she meant to others and also what was important to her. Doing your best was no option. It was life. She loved what she loved. There was no in between. One thing the students knew for sure she loved her son and she loved her choir. Harrold not a day went by without her mentioning you and expressing her love for you. I am sure you knew that but to hear her love confirmed through others can make a world of difference. I am so very grateful to have known your mom and realize that I was blessed to have her presence in my life. God Bless.

"To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord those who are in Christ". Aren't you glad that Carolyn answered PRESENT when GOD called the roll
that morning when He called her home.
We will celebrate her beautiful life and homegoing at Lindsey Street Baptist Church. To God be All Glory for the things He has done.

To Harold and the family, Carolyn was an inspiration to me. I use to come over to her house and sing and play the piano. Carolyn even named the group that we song in called TROUBLE. I will truly miss her smile on the second row at church. I will continue to pray for your strength.

To Harrold and the family......Carolyn Nephew was a spiritual inspiration to all those that entered her class room....Though we song other styles of music, GOSPEL was going to be included or she wouldn't teach it at all....I drew closer to the Lord because of Carolyn Nephew and The Gordon High School Gospel Choir...Over 25 years later, I travel Preaching, Teaching and Singing because she pushed me.....Carolyn, will be greatly missed by all those whom she taught.
