LANIER, Charles, Sr. CHARLES EUGENE LANIER, SR. Charles Eugene Lanier, Sr. of Marietta passed from this life Sunday, October 4, 2009. He was born December 2, 1933 in Calhoun, Georgia the youngest child of Claude T. Lanier and Kate Brock Lanier. He was a graduate of Calhoun High School and attended Georgia State University. He was a two year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving one year in Korea as a signal corpsman. Mr. Lanier was a thirty-seven year employee of Mead Packaging, Atlanta, twenty-five of those years being in the International Division, where he was technical services manager. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Median Adult Men's Sunday School Class at Roswell Street Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Gassaway Lanier, his son & daughter-in-law, Charles E. & Kimberly Tyra Lanier, Jr., step-grandson, Brent Ellis, sister, Louise Lanier Coleman, dear nephew, A. Lynn Goode & his wife, Jimmie Richardson Goode and many special nieces & nephews. Funeral Service will be at Mayes Ward Dobbins Chapel in Marietta at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Cobb Street Ministry.
