Charles ROSS Obituary

ROSS, Charles On the evening of May 23, 2016, Charles Lindsay Ross (Charlie) passed away peacefully at his home after a short illness. He was surrounded by the women he loved, his wife and two daughters. He was 81 years old. Charlie was born on Aug. 22, 1934 in Martinsville, VA. He was the only child of Alton and Ponese Ross. He led an accomplished life filled with family and friends. He met his wife, Betsy in a rainstorm at Emory and Henry College. They married in Sept. 1957 after his graduation with a BA degree. After serving in the US Army for two years, he earned his MBA at Emory University. His long and distinguished career began at Trust Company of Georgia. He transitioned to selling financial software packages to Fortune 500 companies. After retirement, he worked as a financial advisor. Charlie was a devoted member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He was generous man with his heart, his time, and his funds. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty (Betsy) Dillman Ross; daughters Angela Ross and Allison Ross Mitchamore and husband Steve; two grandsons, Ross and Riley Mitchamore; and numerous cousins. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, May 28 at 1:00 PM at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church (LRUMC), 3142 Lawrenceville Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Visitation will begin at noon, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his favorite charities LRUMC and The Atlanta Humane Society.
