Charles WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMS, Jr., Charles Charles "Charlie" W. Williams, Jr. passed away March 4, 2016 due to complications from a stroke. He was born in Macon, Georgia on November 24, 1926 to C. Watt, Sr. and Thelma Williams. He earned Eagle Scout, graduated from Emory University, served in World War II and earned the 33rd Degree Mason. Charlie traveled extensively, enjoyed a passion for foreign languages, read prolifically, reveled in history, followed politics, and loved entertaining with his magic tricks. Charlie and his wife, Maidie, were members of Northside Independent Methodist Church for 35 years and the backbone of the church choir. Charlie's life's passion was ABC School Supply, Inc., the company he founded in 1949 in the family garage. ABC continued to flourish with its showroom sales, but it was the annual catalog distributed internationally that Charlie produced with his heart and soul. Survivors are his soulmate, Maidie Williams; his children, Holly Coleman (David) and Randy Williams (Amy); Maidie's children, Chris Vierling (Ed), Lianne Driver, and Alan Akin; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Visitation will be at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00, Noon, and interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite of Atlanta. The family extends special thanks to Natalie, Ashlee, and Marvin, staff at Huntcliff Summit II and to Tim Barnes of Agape Hospice for their professional and respectful care.

Mr. William will forever be remember in the hearts and minds of everyone I speak to. His legacy will continue. He gave me a chance... I will give others a chance.. He believed in me... I will believe in others.. He was honest... I will be honest ... He showed respect... I will show respect... He believed in me... I will Believe in others. He was patient.. I will be patient.. He looked beyond my self imposed limits... I will look beyond others self imposed limitations. He really taught me to believe in my own trademark "No Idea Too Small", because he took 3 of my simple ideas and sent them around the world in several of his early learning catalogs and I am forever grateful.

I would get a call from Charlie from time to time and we'd discuss the current political scene. When the calls stopped, I feared the worst. A call to Maidie confirmed them. She told me it was a bad one. My mobility issues kept me from a visit but, since my mother also had "bad one", I suspected it wouldn't matter.
Charlie Williams was a ROCK of a Christian American -- a REAL one. I kept him in my prayers for a good outcome. That this good man is now with his Lord is the best possible outcome.
Miss you Charlie and all you did to try to make America a place of which the Founding Fathers would again be proud.
