Coki Bennett Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

BENNETT, Coki Tai Celebrating The Life Of COKI TAI BENNETT Sunrise: November 6, 1972 Sunset: May 21, 2008 Coki Tai Bennett entered this world on November 6, 1972 in Buffalo, NY. Coki was the only child born to Gina (formerly Glynda Morton) and Washington Bennett IV. As a child, Coki had such an inquisitive nature about life. Even before she could walk, she was all about life and laughter. Coki first attended Saint Mark's Catholic School in Buffalo and then went onto Cascade Elementary in Atlanta, GA where she excelled in the chorus and band as a flutist. While at Southwest Middle School she was "Miss 6th Grade"; she then attended Sutton Middle School in Atlanta. Coki was an exceptionally intelligent young lady who had an outgoing personality and was never afraid to express her thoughts and emotions. They were the perfect qualities that spurred her affection for the performing arts as she attended Atlanta's world renowned Northside School for the Performing Arts concentrating in Music Theatre. In 1990, she received a scholarship to attend Young Harris College in Georgia. From there Coki went to Atlanta Metropolitan College where she earned her Associate of Arts degree and was elected Campus Queen. She lived bi-coastally between Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles where she ushered in the new millennium taking with her a tenacity of unwavering dreams, multimedia and fine arts. In 2002, Coki entered the corporate world of the multi-million dollar furniture design firm of Dennis & Leen. More important than her career was her love for the Lord, her family, friends, co-workers and students. She began to travel worldwide with her mother at two years old. Coki made lifelong friends on five continents. During her illness, Coki displayed courage and care for other women by educating them about health, nutrition and early detection of breast cancer. She believed that healthful living should not be taken for granted. Coki's wonderful presence and sense of humor will be missed; however, she left lots of love and fond memories to her mother Gina (Glynda Morton) Bennett/Coleman, father Washington Bennett IV and beloved grandparents Washington Bennett III (Carrie Lucille Bennett); Lee Jack, Jr. and Vivian Morton; Carlene Hatcher Polite; and godfather, Robert Cambridge; aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, extended family and very pecial friends. Services were held at Ablaze Ministries, Los Angeles, CA on Friday, May 23, 2008, 11:00am. Dr. Jean Perez, presiding. The family gratefully acknowledges your words of comfort & encouragement. I was very saddened to hear about the loss of our fellow classmate, Coki Bennett. I graduated with her from Northside High School in 1990 and will miss her smiling face. She had a pleasing personality and was loved by many. I know she is resting now and is smiling down on us. You will indeed be truly missed. To the family, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

Coki, Its hard to comprehend even now that you are gone. Even now i know that God has a larger plan and at times we as fleshly people we do not understand his ultimate plan but we must carry on. I miss you and love you, God bless you 601-918-6255

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I did not graduate with her but I knew her while I attended Northside. I must say I can still see her pretty smile walking in the halls at Northside High School. She was such a delightful person.

Coki, A fallen Tiger has gone to be with the Lord. I had the pleasure of meeting Coki at Sutton Middle School and from there to Northside High School where we graduated together in 1990. Coki was such a pleasent person her light was so radiant that it shined from the inside out, this is such a devastating loss. Coki may you rest in the bosom of Jesus Christ. 404-424-2401

I remember Coki as Ms. 6th Grade at Southwest Middle School. This is where I first met her. From the moment I met her she was a very lively, spirited, and beautiful young woman with a zest for life. This is what I have and will remember about her the most. I had the honor of graduated with her from Northside High School, kept in touch through mutual friends throughout the years, and was able to see her every once a again in passing. She was not only a beautiful woman from the outside, but from the inside as well and she will be greatly missed. God bless you and your family, Coki. May you rest in peace...

Coki, I still can't believe you're gone. You were such as sweet, gentle person. Keep watch over us as you are in a better place. We had fun when i came to Los Angeles and you came to the Bahamas. Our trips to San Diego and Detroit were adventurous. You taught me a lot about surviving this rough world. Bless you my dear.

David.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
