Constance Rose Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

ROSE, Constance CONSTANCE LaROSA ROSE Constance LaRosa Rose died on September 5, 2011 after a three-year fight with a blood disorder. She was born to Adelline and Antonio LaRosa in Chicago on June 18, 1938. While a teenager, Connie moved to New York. She worked as an au pair for Robert Barr, curator of the Museum of Modern Art, while attending Hunter College. Afterwards, she worked for Hazel Bishop as a cosmetic representative. After marrying Albert Danenberg, they moved to Atlanta and Connie continued working at Davison Paxon's selling cosmetics. After the birth of her children, Bobby and Judy, she became a typical housewife of the 1950s-1970's, and was involved in synagogue and civic organizations. A natural businesswoman, Connie became a residential real estate agent in 1968, and was in the Million-Dollar Club. She quickly became bored with selling houses and switched to the commercial side of the business. She made her mark when she was the selling agent for the Briarcliff Hotel. In 1974 she started her own company, Alcon, which became Connie Rose & Associates in 1978. Connie married twice more to Melton Harrell and Manuel Pressman (who predeceased her). Connie was full of life; she was a voracious reader, enjoyed opera, theater, travel, and going to festivals. She was loving, generous, known for speaking her mind, and was always fair. She was a great cook and loved exotic foods. When asked to describe her, friends said: "delightful to know", "phenomenal sense of humor", "a go getter", and "a good hostess". Connie is survived by her children Judy Danenberg Martin and Robert Danenberg, nephew and nieces: Matthew J. Farruggio and his wife Margaret. Gina Farruggio, Marjorie Curt Singer, and Sarah Rath, great-nephew Matthew S. Farrugio, and Mr. Oscar, her loving cat. Connie loved life, and when she took ill she said, "I'm not going out of this world without kicking and screaming."

I got to know Mrs. Rose at the Infusion Center over the last year. It was with much sorrow I learned she was not longer with us this week. I will miss her greatly. She was a bright spot and a joy to see when I went in.

It was a pleasure to know her, even under our circumstances. The tears I shed yesterday were selfish but real.

I know some people who worked for Ms. Rose and from everything I can tell she was a very warm and generous person. RIP, Ms. Rose
