Family-Placed Death Notice

CLIPPINGER, Daniel, Sr. Daniel R. Clippinger, Sr., age 82, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, entered into rest on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, GA. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Eleanor F. Clippinger on September 17, 2008. He is survived by four children; Danny Clippinger, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN, Pamela (Clippinger) & Jack Denton of Snellville, GA, Christine Clippinger, and Terrie (Clippinger) & Manuel Arriaga all of Ooltewah, TN; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Clippinger was born on June 19, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA to Grace Cote Clippinger and Daniel Trydal Clippinger. He graduated from Chattanooga Central High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. Mr. Clippinger and his parents opened Southland Volkswagen, one of the first Volkswagen dealership in the country, in 1954 in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Clippinger enjoyed race car driving, long-hall truck driving, and his volunteer church work through the years. He was a devoted family man and friend. He will be greatly missed by all that knew this remarkable gentleman. A Public Memorial Graveside Service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in TN with Air Force Military Honors. A Church Memorial Service for family and friends will be held also on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the Ooltewah United Methodist Church, 6131 Relocation Way, Ooltewah, TN 37363. The family will receive friends after the church service in the Fellowship Hall for a reception.
