Daniel Poarch Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

Daniel F. (Dan) Poarch, age 83, of Norcross, GA, passed away on January 16, 2005. He retired from General Electric Co. in 1984. In World War II, he was with Westinghouse Electric and worked in Baton Rouge, LA, having been deferred because of his type of work. He was married to Catherine (Kitty) Owen Poarch in May 1941. Both were native Atlantans and grew up together. He was a member of Peachtree Corners Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife; a son and daughter-in-law, John H. Poarch & Jeannene Rutledge Poarch of Greensboro, NC; granddaughter, Allison P. (Tony) Matejczyk; and great-grandson, Robert Anthony Matejczyk. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18th, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross with Dr. David Shaw and Rev. Doug Turner in charge of services. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family request in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096.
