Daniel Woolley Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

Daniel Richard Woolley, "Dan", age 25 of Atlanta, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 14, 2007. Dan was a beloved son, brother and friend. Dan fought a long courageous battle with kidney disease for 15 years. Even though Dan did dialysis daily, he traveled widely including trips to Turkey, Spain, Alaska, Galapagos Islands, Puerto Rico and Mexico. A native of Atlanta he attended the Galloway School and then went on to attend the University of Richmond, where he was the student manager for the men's basketball team for four years and resident advisor. He was the recipient for the Most Significant Contributor Award for the University of Richmond in 2003. He graduated with a degree in accounting with academic honors in 2005. After graduation he moved back to Atlanta and took a job with Deloitte and Touche accounting firm. Dan loved watching all sports games, spending time with his friends, and going to the movies. He is survived by his mother and father, Charlsie and Herb Woolley, his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Tish Woolley and his sister Mary Ann Woolley. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Elsie M. Farmer and his paternal grandmother Mary F. Woolley. Dan leaves behind many friends around the world. He will forever be remembered for his generosity, courage, loyalty and his heart of gold. He was the bravest person his family and friends knew and would not accept any pity on his behalf. Even though Dan's physical stature was only 5 ft. tall, everyone including 6 ft tall basketball players looked up to him with respect and admiration. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dan to the Galloway School of Atlanta, Georgia, for the establishment of a special fund in his memory. Funeral Services will be held in Newnan, Ga. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 2:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home of Newnan. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Morningside Presbyterian in Atlanta, Ga. 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed online at www.mckoon.com

Dan did more in his short life than most people do in 100 years. We are deeply saddened by his death but are comforted by the fact that we know he will continue to live on through us and the plethora of people and places he has touched throughout his lifetime. Dan truly lived every day to the fullest, and we hope to follow his example always. His family is in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss you Dan. Thank you for all that you gave to this world and the inspiration you continue to be for us and many others.

I send my sincere condolences to Dan's family. Dan was a colleague of mine, and this year we participated in the VITA event together. He was an extraordinary young man with a sense of humor and a kind heart.

Dan was a classmate and friend of my daughter Tori. It does not seem possible that he is gone. I saw him at Galloway while going to a Chastain concert just a couple of months ago. He always remembered that I was Tori's dad. Please know your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Dan's life may have been short but he touched many other lives in a wonderful way.

Dan was a spiritual guide; a source strength and laughter for me. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who basked in the glow of his ambient light. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends who all are suffering from this imminent loss.

Woolley Family and Friends,

Dan was one of the most strong-willed, courageous and loyal people I have ever met. I will always remember Dan, because he has made a lasting impact on my life. Dan was always able to find the good in ever situation and I will admire him for that always. The world has lost a great person and friend to all.

God Bless,

Dear Woolley Family,
We were all devastated to learn of Dan's untimely death.
He was such a loving, courageous, and selfless young man.
Dan was a fighter-for all the right things, as well as a Charmer to all of us who had the privilege to know and love him.
His heart of gold was as huge as the circle of friends surrounding him.
No family could have loved and supported him as you did, and it was clear that Dan knew how deeply your love ran.
We are holding you all in our thoughts and prayers daily.
With love,
Carla, Ralph, Rachel, and Brian Lovell
