I always enjoyed my time on the court playing tennis with "Doc". Also, the post-play beers that were consumed by us afterwards were a lot of fun. It was there where I got to learn how smart, caring & funny he really was. He'll be missed by a lot of his friends he made over the years at Druid Hills Golf Club. God Bless You, Doc!

A wonderful colleague and example of what a surgeon should strive to be, but also a very kind, patient and caring individual.
One does not often meet his like but we are better off for doing so.

David became the inaugural transplant surgeon for the pediatric kidney transplant program at Egleston in the early 1980s, at once skillful, dedicated, and fun to work with. Before that, children throughout Georgia lacked access to transplant, or had to travel across the country to pioneer centers elsewhere. As a non-surgeon physician colleague, I always admired his work and the excellent outcomes he achieved in those early days of transplant surgery. His work made a difference when it counted.

He was such a pleasure to work with. Always respectful and valued my opinion. And he was really funny. He was part of our original Transplant family at Piedmont, and these are memories I will always treasure.

Such a sweet gentleman. Some of the Piedmont Transplant group would go to the Pub at the corner of Piedmont and Collier for trivia. We would call Obie if we were stuck on a question. He always knew the answer. One of the smartest.
