BUTLER, Don Lanzie Don Lanzie Butler age 88 of Lawrenceville, GA passed away Monday, January 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jannetta Johnson; children, Mark and Bernadette Butler of Pikesville, MD, Bart and Deborah Butler of Stuarts Draft, VA, Donora Butler of Lawrenceville, GA, Belinda Butler of Winterville, NC, and Carrie and Scott Smith of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Betty Brown of Lilburn, Beverly Rawlings of Charleston, SC; brother, Dale Butler of Littleton, CO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Lenora Butler. Don, a member of E.A. Minor Masonic Lodge #603 F &A.M., retired from Southern Railroad, Oglethorpe Power, and Creative Enterprises. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the World War II era and was an active member, Sunday school teacher, and Deacon at First Baptist Church Lawrenceville. Don was a Justice of the Peace in Dekalb County and represented the county in the Georgia State Legislature, and was a founding and lifelong member of the Gwinnett County Republican Party. A Funeral Service Honoring the Life of Don will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 2PM at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Dr. Inman Houston officiating. Interment will follow at East Shadowlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 2PM-4PM & 6PM-8PM in the funeral home.
