Don was a good boss and mentor. I carried that knowledge throughout my career. I found many good restaurants through his advice.
I have good memories of my time spent with him except taking the emergency lane at highway speed to make a bid deadline downtown!

I did not personally know Mr. Davis, but my father Glenn Smith and my brother Harry Smith certainly did. My father spent his whole career with Batson Cook, starting when he graduated from Auburn in 1936, except for a few years during WWII. He was based in the West Point office , but made many trips to the Atlanta office. He, like Mr. Davis, stayed involved in the company almost till he passed away in 2013 at age 97. The comments you all wrote about a wonderful company really touched me. My sincerest condolences to your family.
