Dorothy Adell Patch Butterworth

Dorothy Adell Patch Butterworth, 89, passed away on May 31, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia after a brief illness. Adell was born in Orlando, Florida but lived most of her life in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Atascocita, Texas. Upon graduation from Louisiana State University, she was employed by Esso in Baton Rouge, where she met the love of her life in an employee carpool. She was married for 63 years to Joseph Franklin Butterworth, Jr., who preceded her in death. In 2011, she and Joe moved from Texas to Atlanta, Georgia to be near their daughters. Adell enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, china painting, sewing, sailing, and traveling and was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of Atascocita United Methodist Church in Humble, TX. She is survived by daughter Beth Adell Butterworth of Atlanta, GA; daughter Sharon Lynn Butterworth Hermann (Paul) of Atlanta, GA and their children Emilia Adell Hermann (Yvonne) of New York, NY, Joseph Paul Davis Hermann of Philadelphia, PA, and Anneliese Simmone Hermann of Atlanta, GA; sister Elizabeth Adell Lowman of Plano, TX and her children Michael Lowman (Claudia), Janna Lowman Cobb (Lee), Gary Lowman (Karen) and Carol Lowman McQuagge (James) and their extended families. The family is grateful to the many loving caregivers who supported Adell at Lenbrook in Atlanta. A family service was held on Monday, June 18, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, LA, with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 22, at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Butterworth, Dorothy Adell Patch
