Dear Mark: I know how your hearts ache. My thoughts are with you, your family and Dylan's huge extended family as you all now must try to adjust to this life here on earth without him. From reading his obituary, I can tell that he had a happy and full life doing things he really loved - you can take an enormous amount of comfort in knowing that you could give him that kind of life.

dear Chris and Mark and Olivia, I wasn't sure if I could attend dylan's service but I am so thankful I did. It was a celebration of his life and what an incredible life and what love you all share. Dylan is with you in spirit just as Austin is with us in spirit, never separated. We will miss our boys and a day will not pass when you don't think of him. Know that he is free from all the pain as Austin is and that one day we will be reunited. Meanwhile, I send my love and my prayers. love, betty botts

Chris, Mark and Olivia,
Margaret and I were so sad to hear of Dylan's death. I remember Dylan as a feisty little kid at Paideia known on campus even at an early age as a talented athlete. I know first hand the anguish and gut wrenching pain that comes with the death of one's child. I can only hope that over time your pain will lessen and instead you will be filled with loving, happy memories of your son's life.
With love and my deepest sympathies. Sally

He will always be remembered and greatly missed.

August 23, 2007

Dear Mark, Chris and Olivia:

We've admired and adored Dylan from his little boy days of sports and car-pool, a knock-out kid with a spirit who touched all he met, who knocked balls out of all our parks.

He mirrored the love and wonder we saw in our own boys, and we could see how proud you were of him, not just his accomplishments, but how he connected with his friends and family, on and off the field, the great heart you helped nurture to open to others.

He knew it, too. I remember the way you both cheered and looked at Dylan, how you'd slap an arm around his shoulder and hug him after a game, how he looked back, his eyes reflecting love and gratitude for two amazing parents he knew backed him always.

It was so clear he felt the unconditional love and support you gave to him and Olivia, love he knew you felt from the depths of your soul.

We will miss him; he made the world a better, gentler place, and Josh and Adam join me in sending you thoughts and prayers. We are keeping you all in our hearts.

Always, Art Harris

Chris and Mark: Jim and I were devastated to learn of Dylan's untimely death. He was such a lovely young man and so full of promise. He was a fighter -- for all the right things -- as well as a charmer. No family could have loved and supported him more than you did, and it was clear Dylan knew he was loved. We are holding you in our thoughts and prayers daily. Peace, Dale Voyles

To Mr. and Mrs. Kaufman and Olivia:

My sincerest condolences go out to you guys in this tough time. Dylan was so full of life and he will surely be missed. I will always remember him as he was when I met him on the first day of my Buckhead Baseball career when we were both about nine years old playing for Scott Hawkins' AA Phillies team. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to the service tomorrow, but your family will be in my thoughts and prayers the whole day, and in the weeks to follow.

Much love,
